Regulus Issues
-
Hi,
I am using the rgulus theme for one of my plogs, but am having a couple of problems.
1. I have a page title training in which I have put some content. But when trying to make some of the text bold using the ‘B’ button, it is not showing as bold when viewing the page?
2. I can’t seem to re-order the page tabs along the top. I have tried changing the numbers for page order in the edit options for the page, but no joy?
3. Is there any way of re-ordering the blogroll without changing the categories. At the moment the show in alphabetical, but I would like them in a different order, but can’t change the categorie names.
Many thanks for any help.

2. I’ve never had luck changing the page order even on my hosted blog! Changing the page order number never seemed to make any difference.
[off-topic]Cheltenham boy eh? ;) [/off-topic]

I know, it’s ridiculous. Some poeple certainly seem to be able to manage it, so am hoping to try and get a definitive answer.
[off-topic]Sure am! I take it you reside in the borough as well?[/off-topic]

Try a feedback from your dashboard and ask the developers. Post the answer here if you get one so that we can all find out. :)
[off-topic]No, I’m near Portsmouth but have family in Churchdown so am regularly (every couple of months) up that way. Beatiful area![/off-topic]

(1) The solution to this may be to turn off the text rich editor using the check box at the bottom of your profile page and then go at it again.
Excuse me but I could have sworn I answered this question (2) in an email sent to me yesterday so here goes. First look at both of my blogs in the regulus theme. http://timethief.wordpress.com and http://coyotes.wordpres.com. You will notice that the pages are not in alphabetical order, right? this is because I changed the order and here’s how to do that.
Changing page order – regulus theme
In the regulus theme if you click manage -> pages> select a page ->edit
now look to the far right hand side
do you see “Discussion +” ?
good then look down the row
the last one in the row there is “page order”
click the + sign and type in the number you want
– don’t forget to click “save” under the edit box
VOILA!
if you don’t assign an order then the pages will appear in alphabetical order
and “yes” you’ll have do do each page in this manner(3) The link order in your blogroll cannot be changed as this is the way the designer coded them – alphabetically.

Timethief,
You are right, you did send me an email and as I said in my initial post, it hasn’t worked.
Do I need each page to be given a number for it to work, or can I just assign a page number to one page if that’s all I want moving.
Also, what about sub-pages? How does the numbering affect them?
Cheers.
PS My second post also says that I had resolved problem 1, but thanks anyway. ;)

Wohoo!! Sorted it!
You have to number ALL pages for the override to work. You can’t just make one page come first, without telling the theme where to place all the other pages as well.
Pheeeeeew!!!!
Note: this does not include sub-pages, just the main tabs along the top in the header. I haven’t moved onto the subs yet.

Go into your page management from your dashboard and choose the edit option on the right hand side. Under the options that will appear go to Page Order and set the number for the position of the page you require. If you have 2 pages already and you want to add another it will be 3. You will have to type it in the box, and save (refresh) for it to show. For example my Contact page is page 4 relative to the other pages. My disclaimer is page 3. I switched them around a bit until I was happy with the order.
You can change the order of any or all your pages this way. If you want to set sub pages you need to go into the option where you define the page’s “parent”.
-
I already explained this to him britgirl and he got it. He had to re-number each “parent” page to achieve what he wanted and not just one of them.
-
mevetts,
I’m sorry I missed your affirmative response to number (1) above. But I’m glad to hear that your re-numbered all the parent pages and achieved what you wanted. Happy blogging.:) -

@timethief – i was looking at changing a blog over to regulus and looked at yours from this post and noticed the sidebar gets pushed down after all posts. Is this the default of the template? Something you setup? Or just how my browser shows it?
-
Something’s too wide in her sidebar. (Now there’s something I thought I would never say about TT ;) You’ll note that if you click through to her posts, the sidebar stays down no matter which post you look at.
I’m thinking it’s the pic under “Scientists Censored and Muzzled by U.S. Government” in her sidebar.

Ok thanks I see what you mean Mike…I mean Dr. Mike
Sorry Timethief, didnt mean to point it out was just looking at regulus templates and was curious.
