Regulus template looks weird on Mozilla browsers
-
Hi,
I’m using the Regulus template for my WordPress.com blog <http://huckerby.wordpress.com>. Recently I noticed that the pages have been looking really weird, with some posts entirely in boldcase (I checked already, did not forget to close any <b> tags), and the sidebar is also entirely purple, which never used to be the case. This problem only surfaces in Mozilla-based browsers (eg. Firefox, Camino). The template looks perfectly normal in IE and Safari. Does anyone know what’s the problem? Many thanks!

This is probably the issue:

i’ve tried emptying my cache and reloading the browser, doesn’t work. tried it on other computers as well, same problem persists.

Well it is not surprising. That theme has 19 validation errors including a plethora of missing tags.

I use FF and Regulus with no trouble after clearing cache & history: judyb12.wordpress.com

hi drmike, what is the problem exactly then? will the theme go back to normal if all the Youtube embeds are removed? But why is there no problem viewing in IE/Safari then, hmm…

@huckerby where validation errors are mentioned the best thing to do is to validate yourself and have a look at the issues. The fact it is OK in IE does not necessarily mean that isn’t causing it. But it is a necessary first step.
Knowing how to validate is a useful first stage for any kind of web development. It is a very valuable error finder. -

judyb12: yes i’ve already done that.
atthe404: yes i’ve validated myself already. i see the issues but they are all unique to WordPress blogging (eg. Youtube embeds not having the <embed> tag).

Please don’t listen to atthe404. He or she is just causing trouble once again.
Are you still having the issue? You blog looks fine to me. IIRC, it did that day as well. It may be your connection as your “country” has had connection issues in the past and you may be hitting a cached copy of your CSS from further up the path.

hi drmike, yup i’m still facing the issue. so some computers will see the blog fine, and others will have issues? or does it have to do with the location from which you access the webpage? thanks again

@huckerby: I took a look at your site using FF on my Mac, and i see the problems with your sidebar (calendar doesn’t line up correctly, widgets use the wrong colors, etc). When i go to another page or post in your blog, however, everything loads and displays correctly. I took these two screenshots:

Thank you judy! Will do just that. I’m using Camino on my Mac. Maybe i should just use Safari, sigh.
