Reinstate expired domain
-
My domain name has expired at the beginning of October. I missed the email. Can this please be reinstated without having lost the content? There is no link under purchases to renew.
-
Hi –
Happy to take a look. Which domain are you inquiring about?
The content will remain available on the free site address associated with the domain. We don’t delete or remove content when a domain expires.
-
There aren’t any upgrades or domain associated with the account you’ve used here though. So, I’ll need to know which domain is in question in order to take a look at the status.
-
my domain is manuscripts.com. The last email I was sent from WP was on the 26th of September:
Dear Registration Private,
This email is to notify you that the following product(s) is set to expire on the date(s) listed:
MANASCRIPTS.COM – Oct. 01, 2018
ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (and/or the associated ccTLD authority), requires that we send this renewal notice before a domain’s expiration date. Please note: If auto-renew is enabled for your product(s), we’ll automatically attempt to process a renewal for you before the expiration date(s).
You can renew your product(s) or verify that auto-renew is enabled via the Purchases section of your WordPress.com dashboard.
NOTE: For certain TLDs, if renewals are not processed in the proper respective time frame, redemption fees may be applied and/or your domain name may be placed on non-renewal status.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to can get in touch with our Happiness Engineers via our contact form.
Thank you for using WordPress.com!
Sincerely,
WordPress.com -
There are a couple of issues here.
This first is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner or admin of MANASCRIPTS.COM.
So you must have ended up with a second WordPress.com account at some point. You will need to log into the other account in order to renew the domain registration for MANASCRIPTS.COM.
The second issue is that your domain has passed out of the renewal grace period and now is in what is called the redemption period. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one which we can waive. You can read more about the domain expiration process here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
If you wish to continue with the renewal process and agree to pay the renewal fees + $80, please let us know and we will send a payment request to the email address on file for the account owner. However, you will need to regain access to that account in order to complete the renewal. you might wish to make use of the lost password tool: http://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword and the account recovery system: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery to regain access.
If you do not wish to pay the redemption fee, you can wait out the rest of the expiration process and see if the domain is released. However, do be advised that this is risky, as someone else can purchase the domain out from under you and it may not become available in the future.

OK. I have to WP accounts. So the owner email is different. I successfully logged in. Can you please send me the link to renew? Thank you. Interested in the $5/mo plan (with free domain name).
-
Actually I am interested in reinstating the http://www.manascripts.com with the Premium pkg ($10/mo).
-
Thank you for confirming via the correct account.
I’ve sent you a payment link for the redemption fee. The renewal cost will be included in your plan purchase, so that’s not included in the payment link.
Once we receive your payment for the redemption fee we can contact our domain provider to request that they restore the domain. Meanwhile you can go ahead and add the plan you want, then we can immediately add the domain back to your site once it’s restored.
-
We’ve received your payment, thank you. I’ve emailed our domain provider to restore your domain. We’ll let you know as soon as they reply.
-
Hi @tamaraball!
I can confirm that the domain has been restored by our domain provider. As soon as you add a paid plan to your site, we can add the domain to that plan.
You can choose from any of our paid plans from this page here:

I see you’ve added the plan as well now, so I’ve restored your domain to your account. It is again loading your WordPress.com site.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
