Relaunching my blog–same name, new topic
-
So, I had a blog that I worked on for quite a while and then for various reasons had to take some time off from it. Now I would like to start up again, but I’m going to be headed down a different road topically. But I don’t want to loose all my old posts or get rid of them really, but I don’t want the old posts to be part of the main blog page. I’m wondering if there is a way to split off the old posts into a separate archive. A ‘classic’ version of the blog if you will.
I’m not sure if this is making sense.
What I’m getting at is, I’d like to be able to start my new posts, and let them have their own page, and when you click “previous” or “older posts” it only shows posts that I’ve written from this point forward. Then, I’d like to be able to keep all my old posts as part of the over all blog, but on a separate page. I’m not opposed to having to change the old posts urls and loosing all the links and track backs. I just want all the posts to be under one roof, with the older stuff archived away, and the new stuff in a separate place (but with their own archive).
Hopefully this made some sort of sense. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

I would suggest creating a second blog, export your stuff out and import it into the new blog and then you can delete all the posts from the first blog and start fresh.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/You can create a custom menu on both blogs and then add links to the other blog right on the top navigation (or in a custom menu widget if the theme you are using doesn’t have top navigation).
