relinquish a site name
-
HI All… I am going to do a major photo shoot around the US and wanted to use wethepeople.wordpress.com but see that someone has that name. it has not been used since 2005. Is there anyway of contacting the users and seeing if they would relinquish
the site?
Just a thought, don’t know till you ask.
Thank you…

I can relate to your frustration. Some bloggers just totally exclude all possible contact details.
I’ve been to the wethepeople blog. There’s not much to go on.
No guarantees or promises, but leave a comment on wethepeople’s only post and see what happens. Other than that, there’s nothing much you could do to kick off a negotiation with that blogger.
WordPress staff won’t contact that blogger on your behalf for something like this, I’m sorry to say.

If the domain name “wethepeople” .com .net .org etc is available then you can pay for a domain mapping upgrade and the underlying wp.com name will be irrelevant.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/or use a variation:
W3thep3ople.wordpress.com
1wethepeople.wordpress.com
and so on… -
Yes, 1tess is right – just go for a name variation if time is of the essence. Or invent an even better, original name. That contactless blogger might never respond, so…

HI All and thank you for the suggestions. Domain names and variations are not good. Will have to figure out a different way.
Thanks again.
would have loved wethepeople2013, but gone too…
