    Hello,

I have initially created a blog on wordpress (bricelongnos.wordpress.com), then created a new one, domain registered with fasthosts.co.uk (daehandrama.com), with the help of my friend who hosted it on his media temple premium account.
I have tried to migrate the new blog to my WordPress account (as I needed an Askimet API and more control over the website), following the steps indicated.
But now I am facing two issues:
    – Whenever I access my WordPress account, the only blog that shows is bricelongnos.wordpress.com and not daehandrama.com, I can only see it in the store under primary domain… so whenever I want to get stats and other I am not sure whether it is for the original blog or the new one…
    – I am suddenly not able to share my posts through Facebook, as it now says “http://daehandrama.com/ is marked private by its owner. If you were invited to view this site, please log in below. Read more about privacy settings.”

Could you help me with both issues, please?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I looked into your domain and I found that it was not hosted through. It looks like it is still hosted through MediaTemple:

    http://who.wildwestdomains.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=daehandrama.com&prog_id=wildwestdomains

If you create a WordPress.com site, you can point your domain daehandrama.com to that site. You have already purchased domain mapping, but your nameservers are still pointing to MediaTemple.

Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

    • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Hi Grace,

Thank you for your response and help.

I am actually using my wordpress.com account to write here, and have a wordpress site which is: bricelongnos.wordpress.com. It is currently defined as the “subdomain” of daehandrama.com.

The problem is when I change the nameserver to WORDPRESS.COM, the daehandrama.com URL will automatically send me to the bricelongnos.wordpress.com website. At the same time, all my social media sharing tools stop working (links don’t work when shared on Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

Would you know the reason of this? How to prevent it?

    Thanks in advance!

I must add that the daehandrama.com website shows me the look of the bricelongnos.wordpress.com even with daehandrama.com defined as primary domain (after changing the nameserver to WORDPRESS.COM)

Yes, this is what is supposed to happen. Because your nameservers are still MediaTemple it is still showing your old site. But once the nameservers are changed, you will see your WordPress.com site. If you want, for the time being, I can change the primary domain so you could see what your WordPress.com site looks like right now.

I’m not a bit confused as to what you are looking for. Do you want to create a subdomain so that your site: bricelongnos.wordpress.com can be found at a subdomain of daehandrama.com? For example: blog.daehandrama.com? You can do that using this guide:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/

You can set up Publicize accounts in order to share your posts automatically using this guide:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/

My old site is “bricelongnos.wordpress.com” and the new site is “daehandrama.com”. I do not want the new site to show. I just wanted to bring my new site (daehandrama.com) under my WordPress.com account because I do not have any access to an API, store and akismet ID on mediatemple (the host account isn’t mine).
Is there a way to remove bricelongnos.wordpress.com althogether and just keep only daehandrama.com under my wordpress account?
(social media sharing is working very well as long as the nameserver remains mediatemple)
    Thanks in advance,
    Brice

Sorry once again I am not clear. I meant “I do not want the OLD site to show”

    Hi Brice,

That would not be possible because the point of domain mapping would be to point it to a WordPress.com site. If it’s not hosted with us then it wouldn’t be possible to access any of our features for a site hosted elsewhere.
