Remapping domain

  I’ve a domain that was connected to my WordPress account a few years ago. It’s lapsed for some time but I’ve now repurchased the domain.

  I’ve tried mapping the domain but get the message ‘Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection’. I try to access the wp-admin but I’m unable to.

  Any ideas how I can reconnect this?

  If you had the site connected by Jetpack, then it wasn’t hosted at WordPress.com. Your content would not be stored here. Was the domain name leaderofpeople.com? That looks like it was hosted at 1&1. If that’s right, did the hosting expire also?

  Thanks for the reply!

  The domain was with 1&1 but I was using the wordpress app to post the first time round. The domain did lapse for a few years. Saying that, now I’ve repurchased the domain (again 1&1) I’m getting a Jetpack error, which stops me from doing anything else. It’s been so long I’ve forgotten it all!

  Is it best to start again completely? I don’t mind doing this, but don’t want to wait 30 days before being able to use my email again for WordPress.

  The domain name is really just that, a name. All of the site’s content would have existed under the hosting account.

  Hosting providers do keep backups, but I don’t think any really keep them from years back.

  In this case, I recommend starting over.
