Hi agin!
A asked a few days ago about a checkbox for my readers so that the blogg will remember them so that they don’t have to fill in there name every time.
You said I don’t have that option in my theme. Can a get it?

And more importantly. The blogg used to remember my readers name and email and not trough their own browser, the blogg did it for them like a cookie a presume. And now it doesn’t any more. And it happened to them all at the same time. So something has changed. The very same day did a look around in my settings but I can’t imagen what I have done but I is to much of a coincident that it happened exactly then.
What has happen and how can we fix it?

Exactly. WordPress.com lets the browser save that information provided that the browser of the commentator supports that feature.
This is not something controlled on our end and that’s why you can’t find any settings about it. This is information stored locally on your commentators’ browsers.

But as I said, something has happed too many of my readers all att once, that the blogg doesn’t remember them. Ergo it’s not likely that they have done anything but the blogg is the real cause.
Please read everything a wrote again and not just the first to lines.
Something I did in settings or the update that just was to the blogg that may be the cause? Is there a bugg? The change I did was a button to repost on other media and to allow the thread of answering to 10 instead of 8 (befor the replybutton disappears)
The blogg has stopped that feature to suprot their browser. Why?
I hope we can agree that it is not likely that all my readers att once whiteout them knowing about it them selves, stopped the suport autofill? Yes or No?

I can understand how this can be frustrating. The changes you made to your site settings would not have an effect on the browser’s ability to autofill. There is also not a reason autofill would stop working from our side, again, it is purely based on the web browser. It could be possible that a certain web browser updated and caused the issue. That could become a problem that would impact many people at the same time.
I do have a question. Has autofill begun working correctly for your readers and commenters? Please test and let us know. Thank you. :)

That is not very likely that that is the reson since I know for certain that one of them has a Huawei and another has iPhone.
As it is right now, no I don’t think that it has resolved on my blogg. And it was not that they had to choose autofill, every time they wanted to comment it was already prefilled in the dialogbox for namn and mail. They had to do absolutely nothing.
I doubt very much, as always when it’s something technical that’s gone wrong, doubt that this has anything to do whit my consumers of the blogg. I’m not saying that this attitude is you or yours, but that approach to a techproblem is one of the most annoying things for me to hear, when I know for certain that that is an brush off and the easy way too get rid of an problem, and I absolutely refuse to do that to my costumers. It is not them. It is us.
The have also all assured med that they have changed noting on their side, and I know that I have. I did the update that was sent to me from WordPress and I messed around in settings.
I have also seen this happen before on the other sites as a reader och commenter on someone else’s blogg. That one day my name was filled in and the next day it wasn’t and it took forever until the blogg remembered me again. I think we are talking about months. And here I also know that others were complaining along whit me, so it was for certain nothing I had done. Or they.
I can’t be the first one to point out this problem om WP since I have seen tis problem for at leats 10 years here and there. Or are people just not bothered?

We only auto-fill if they’re logged in to WordPress.com.
Could it simply be that they’ve been logged out?

That’s not correct. It has been filled in for my costumers that are not logged in.
Actually I have only one person how loggs in and that is the only one that has an account on WP.
As I said. This is a problem that I have seen for many years on many bloggs that uses WP One day your namn is remembered and the next it has forgotten you.
I have also spoken to one of my readers and this occurred at the same time on to differs browser at the same time. On her computer and on her cellphone simultaneously.
Can we please leave all possibility’s that the proteome is one the users and readers to my blogg? I’m most certain that this is not the reson. I am sure that the problem is on WP and my blogg.

And here. This blogg I a bit strange. It can forget you now and then and than if you persist and fill in information a few times, but now, and you didn’t’ have to before, both a nickname and an email. I how also fill in the address to my blogg is remembered much more accurately.
Bur I can’t comment there as logged in so I am an user like everybody else.
If you look closely on this blogg this is the resins why so many är anonyms whit no nickname at all.
And for a while the blogg went from remembering every one till no one, too today where it remembers some of us.

I also hade a new behaviour to announce. The blogg used to be filled in but now one of the users enters just one letter of her nick and the blogg remembers her and she can just click enter.
I have also looked whit a debug tool and seen that my blogg does indeed have names on the boxes so the browsers that allow this should be able to detect them, but they just don’t…🤷♀️

How many users are you saying this is happening to?
Also, the autofill feature is common for several browsers, particularly Chrome.

Hi! I just finished reading the thread.
WordPress.com will fill in details if someone is logged into WordPress.com.
Otherwise, the setting is purely from the browser. Also, the browser is in charge of remembering (or forgetting) that they are logged in.
You mentioned this:

This is also related to browser storage: remembering if someone is logged in, remembering stored details, etc.
All of that could be cleared from the browser, as a troubleshooting step, as part of an update, etc.
If the users have re-filled in their information, or re-logged in if they were logged in and got logged out, are they still having trouble?
And if so, would you be willing to find out if they are using the same browser? It’s possible a browser update changed something.
But, as we mentioned, it’s not possible for you to change a setting in WordPress that would change that.

Whos browser? Not mine. I have not done a update and in any case why should that effete my costumers?
(The problem is 100%- garantied on their side. It’s on ours.)
