Remoce social buttons from BLOCK Blog post

    Hi

When I had Personal plan, did not have any problems with social buttons. It was on one place at each site. But directly after upgrade to Pro i had a problem.
Now I have social buttons under each post in block Blog post. I have tried everything. When I change under settings where to show social buttons so they dont appear on home site, they dissapear, but also dissapear social buttons on the end of home page, but I want it there.

    So you understand

Before upgrade – Social buttons on ONE place att each site, at the end

After upgrade with same settings, did not change anything – On home page, beyond home page social buttons, it appears social buttons after each post in block blog post.

Only way to get rid of them was to check out social buttons on home page, but now i dont have any social buttons on home page.

Please help how to fix it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey @waleus87, the social button are controlled by sharedaddy which is inside jetpack. The social share comes as a module in jetpack. If you disable that, you the social buttons should be removed.

Please refer to the links below on how to disable/enable modules in jetpack.

    Jetpack

I hope this helps. Let me know if that works for you. Cheers.

  • @waleus87 I can see you’ve downgraded the site, but if you’d like to continue troubleshooting this, we’d be happy to help.

    If I understand correctly:
    – You want sharing icons at the bottom of your page (like the home page)
    – You’d also like them in each post when viewed individually
    – But you don’t want any lists of several posts to have sharing icons in each one.

If that’s right, you should have a checkbox here that determines whether your sharing buttons will appear on archives and pages:
    https://wordpress.com/marketing/sharing-buttons/

I would guess you would want to uncheck archives, but do check pages and single posts. Is that what you had?

Let us know if you’d like us to take a closer look. Thanks!

    Hello again.

I need some features that only the Pro plan has, so I upgraded again. But it is extremely disturbing around sharing buttons. I have checked everything you wrote, several times about, then and even now.

If I go into Jetpack settings and delete sharing and likes, they are completely removed from the website.

If I go into wordpress settings for sharing, it is also not possible to achieve as it was with Personal plan.

With Jetpack, it is somehow doubled by the same setting that can not be removed from.

If I have ticked during sharing – start page, posts, pages and media, it is as I described above, in the Blog Post block there are share buttons under each post. It’s too disturbing to the eye.

If I uncheck Posts – then share buttons disappear on every post page, but not under every post in the blog post block. If I uncheck the Home page, share buttons will disappear from the Blog Posts block, but also at the bottom of the page (where I still want share buttons). So, when I turn off the share buttons on the home page, it looks like it does now. Something in between, as I had it with Personal plan can not be obtained. So share and like in ONE place at the bottom of each page.

Yes, I want exactly like that:
    If I understand correctly:
    – You want sharing icons at the bottom of your page (like the home page)
    – You’d also like them in each post when viewed individually
    – But you don’t want any lists of several posts to have sharing icons in each one.

But I cant get it with settings that you refer to, and It become a problem directly after upgrading to Pro plan. The problem is some where when Jet pack installs, it become double settings in some way that do not coincide.

  • Hmm, I think it will be easier if we try to connect and check this together. Could you please reach out via live chat from https://wordpress.com/help/contact?
    Thanks!
