Removal of a Coded Link at the Bottom of the page

    Hi helpful people!

My website was created by an outsourced person but he left his website link at the bottom of the page that was not agreed upon. I would like this removed but I am afraid of diving in the coding and removing something and end up breaking something on the entire website.

At the same time when I put the website link in this Contact Us Page of WordPress it tells me the following: ‘’ This site may be a copy of WordPress with a different hosting service. Here’s the best way to find help with that. If you’re not sure though, please share your question with a link, and we’ll point you in the right direction!’’

Any advice and help is appreciated!

The site I need help with is arubaexecvacationrental.com/. It is not hosted by WordPress.com or connected with Jetpack. This site is not linked to my WordPress.com account.

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Hostgator.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.
