Removal of unwanted Black box on homepage
-
Immediately below the header on my new site is a large black box with the words ‘Copyright 2021 Author Pro on Genesis Framework.WordPress.LogOut.’ This box is ugly, and visible to others when they visit my site. How do I delete it?

I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under your account here.
What is the URL of the site with the problem?

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Bluehost.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
And, you can find support for your theme at https://my.studiopress.com

Hi Macmanx,
I double checked my website access path, and it’s:
https://wordpress.com/stats/day/brucemitchellauthor.com.
This is the way I’ve been accessing my site and building it over recent days. I’m confused as to where I belong. I’ve tried to log on to WordPress.org but its not accepting my details!

Your site is connected to your WordPress.com username account via the Jetpack plugin, which allows you to manage certain aspects of your site using our tools. But your site is not hosted on our servers, and not using our modified version of the WordPress software.
In this particular case, it’s an issue with your theme, and we also don’t make the theme you’re using on your site.
We can help you with issues regarding your WordPress.com account, issues with the tools we provide for you to manage your site, and some limited help with issues related to the Jetpack plugin. But we cannot help with issues related to the WordPress software on your site, your theme or specific plugins you’re using, or the WordPress software itself.

Thank you. I built the site with the help of a video tutorial, and if there’s a better way to manage the site, without wasting my investment, I’d have to consider it.
I have 3 questions:
1. Although I can follow the link: https://wordpress.com/stats/day/brucemitchellauthor.com to my site and work on it, I still can’t log on to WordPress.com, as it’s not accepting my URL name or email. I also am unsure now of my password. Can you help me with that? Can I start all over again with a new login?
2. Is there a better way to do what I’m doing?
3. Can you suggest any fix for the theme, or is it just a matter of getting help from ‘Author Plus’?
Thank you?
-
By the way, if I’m not using ‘your modified version of the WordPress software’, what am I using, and how would I get help with that when I need it?

You are already logged into WordPress.com. You wouldn’t be able to post in this forum, nor would you be able to access the link at https://wordpress.com/stats/day/brucemitchellauthor.com otherwise.
If you’re speaking of the site dashboard at https://brucemitchellauthor.com/wp-admin/, you need to use your admin login credentials for that site that were provided to you when you first installed the WordPress software at your hosting provider.
And to log into WordPress.org, you’ll need to first register a user account there.
These are three completely different and separate accounts, each with their own set of login credentials.
2. Is there a better way to do what I’m doing?
I’m not sure what you’re referring to.
You created this forum thread to ask about making a modification to your theme, and as we’ve explained above, only support for the specific theme you’re using can help you with that.
3. Can you suggest any fix for the theme, or is it just a matter of getting help from ‘Author Plus’?
We don’t make the theme you’re using, so we cannot help with this. You need to contact support at https://www.studiopress.com/, as they made your theme.
By the way, if I’m not using ‘your modified version of the WordPress software’, what am I using, and how would I get help with that when I need it?
You are using the open source WordPress software made by the community on WordPress.org. They provide support for that software in the forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
But in this particular case you’re looking for help with your theme, NOT with the WordPress software, so the WordPress.org forums also won’t be able to help you in this particular case.

Thank you. I failed to record my login details for WordPress when I installed the software. Can you advise me how I can re-configure the login? I’ve tried the ‘lost password’ option but it refuses my URL or Email.

Please contact your hosting provider or post in the WordPress.org forums (https://wordpress.org/support/forums/). As we already mentioned, we cannot help here.
