Remove ads from my free already existing blog

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! In the attempt to remove ads from my free already existing blog I purched a Personal Plan and a domain, only to realize that ads were still there. Perhaps I made the mistake of buying a new website altogether.

    I have two questions:

    1. I asked for a refund immediately after realizing I had made a mistaken purchase. Can you perhaps confirm the refund will take place in the next days, if a refund will be granted?
    2. How should I go about removing ads from my existing blog, without buying a new name and a different website?

Thank you so much for all your time and sharings.

    Giovanni

  • Hi –

    Thanks for getting in touch.

Yes, a personal plan allows you to remove ads from the site. Looking at the account I can see that we’ve already issued the requested refund for the personal plan on jbsum.org.

Cancelling that plan has also inactivated your domain and ability to remove ads. Taking this back a step – do you want to remove ads on the site? Do you want the domain?

The personal plan is a great starting point for any project. You’ll be able to register a custom domain as part of that plan (as you know). This is important when running a business because it improves your SEO, branding, and overall reach. You’ll be able to bring more people to your site with ease. This plan also gives you the ability to remove ads (again, important for a business) and gives you additional media storage. Check it out and write back to me here if you need anything else.

Hi Zinnia, thank you for your reply and info!

    My question is now:

How can I remove adds from my already existing website (jbsum.wordpress.com), without having to change or add another domain to it? Elaborating further, I would like to keep my already existing website and all its content, without changing its address, and I would like to remove ads from this very website. Asked in another way: What’s the process I need to go through to remove ads from jbsum.wordpress.com?

    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

From what I can gather, it looks like there was a small mix-up when you initially upgraded your plan. The Personal plan was accidentally applied to another site you created – jbsumorg.wordpress.com, rather than the intended jbsum.wordpress.com. This is why you were still seeing ads on your site.

Not to worry, though. We can help you sort this out. Click on the link below to apply the Personal plan to the correct site.

    https://wordpress.com/plans/jbsum.wordpress.com

By doing this, the plan will be applied to the right site, and ads will automatically be removed.

Also, I’d like to point out an added benefit of the Personal plan. You can register a custom domain for free (for the first year) and use that instead of your .wordpress.com subdomain. Please note that this is entirely optional and only if you wish to personalize your domain name further.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns. We’re here to help.

    Dear fstat, dear all,

Thank you! I did the upgrade to Personal and everything seems to be working fine.

    Much gratitude and love,
