Remove all the content, please

  • Unknown's avatar

I do understand well what I’m asking for)
I’ve got about 2000 posts and removing them by editing would take all the rest time of my life.
The reason is that I use the password and I’have changed it several times. Changing it in all the posts by hand is also too troublesome. So I’ve exported all the content and edited XML file in a text editor by “find and replace”.
Now I would want to import it back.
It’s possible, I’ve tried it at new blog on WordPress, there were no encoding troubles (I use Linux and sometimes they happen)).
    Help me, please.

    Loving your service, Eyrr.
    Greetings from Russia)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    O. Sorry. I’ve forgotten to ask one more thing.
Please, make eyrr the admin of my blog back! It’s the sadful result of my experiments with administrator or users’ rights, I can’t remember now)

Is this the site you need help with? http://eyrr.wordpress.com/

As far as deleting the content, you can do it yourself by bulk deleting your posts from the Posts page. First change the number of posts to display to 100 or 200 per page from the “Screen Options” link, and then check the select all box and delete. If necessary, you can do the same thing with media files.

As far as making Eyrr the Admin again, that’s not something we forum volunteers can do, so I’ve marked this discussion for Staff attention.

    Thank you, justjennifer.
Of course I’ve tried to remove posts by this way. But nearly every time I see

    :) Goshdarnit!
Something has gone wrong with our servers. It’s probably Matt’s fault.
We’ve just been notified of the problem.
Hopefully this should be fixed ASAP, so kindly reload in a minute and things should be back to normal.

    Yes, it’s this site.

While waiting for responce I’m removing posts by editing (select-remove). It can’t remove 200 posts at once as I ask it. It removes only 5-40 of them, and it takes several minutes every time and every time finally I see 503 error.
The same happens if I try to empty the trash.
I will finish this wearisome task myself – may be today or yesterday)) now there is only 700 of them. I just hoped there is some more ways to do it – whithout such pain in the ass(
I think it’s a temporary trouble with server overload, but the notion to see the renewed blog is too strong to wait, sorry for disturbing)

So I still want eyrr to become the admin of my blog.
    And I still love WP!

    Hello there,
This thread is flagged for Staff attention. Please hang in there.

Wow. I’ve finished removing it myself! And removig about 2000 posts from the trash – every time about 10-50 posts – with error 503 every time.

And now I have new content, with the same password for all the posts!
    I’m really happy.

Please make eyrr the administrator of my blog.

We Volunteers can’t make anyone an Admin of your blog. We don’t have backend access to blogs; only Staff do.

  • I have emptied the blog as requested.

I can’t re-add the administrator for you. You’ll need to re-invite the user as an administrator via Users -> Invite New in your blog’s Dashboard.

    Thank you very much, macmanx.

So it was my new content you removed.
It isn’t a problem at all, I’ll import XML file again and write again two new posts I added yesterday.

But there is a problem whith inviting eyrr. I tryed, really)
I’ve deleted this user several month ago and now after inviting I get message about “there is no such user”. And it is the truth.
But I can’t register eyrr again because of ” this login isn’ empty” or something like this.

  • It looks like the username was changed, so that account no longer exists.
