remove an admin

  • Unknown's avatar

I have permission to review one the admins from my site but the site won’t allow me to delete them and transfer their work to another admin. An error message keeps popping up. Can you help me?

    Site: http://endnewjimcrowde.org.
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hey there!

Can you tell me the username of the admin you’re trying to remove please?

Can you also tell me, the username you’re trying to assign content to please?

Lastly, can you tell me what error message you’re seeing.

We’re going to attempt to complete the actions you’ve mentioned, so is it ok to remove the admin from the site mentioned?

    Many thanks in advance.

Yes its fine to remove them for me.

    Admin: JeffreyLott

    Assign to ShyanneMiller

Error says: There was an error deleting @jeffreylott
    – There is no option to click to get more information about the error.

Yes, you have permission to try to remove him.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the extra details!

You’re not able to remove jeffreylott because they are still the listed owner of the site and the account that owns the WordPress.com Premium upgrade for the website (the domain registration is under your account). Because of this, we also cannot remove them from the site.

In order to remove them, they will need to transfer ownership of the site to you by logging into their account and following the steps here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

This will also transfer the Premium plan to your account and you would need to add a method of payment to that plan so it renews properly when the renewal comes up.

Since this process will remove them from the site, their posts will also be assigned to the same account the site is transferred to, which if they transfer it to you, it will accomplish what you were trying to do initially.

    I hope that clarifies things!
