remove an administrator
-
Hello. I have been brought in to remove an administrator that is no longer with the organization. However, even with having admin settings I can’t seem to change her status to reassign all her blog posts and move her to be an author or editor. The client would like this person removed from the system but it looks like they might be the person to set it up. Can you please assist?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

yes.
It’s interesting. I spoke with the person that set up the site who is no longer with the organization and whom they would like to be removed as an admin. She transferred the site ownership a while back to another admin and when she logs in to wordpress.com she no longer has access to the site and she said she removed herself. However, she still shows as a user and an admin to the rest of the admins in the account and nobody can remove her.
I know that wordpress.com made a change to wordpress.blog is there a chance that due to the platform transition that she is somehow still in the database but that some of the data for her user profile was removed but not all?
Any ideas on how to remove her user profile from the wordpress.com dashboard and the WP admin dashboard?

The domain names would not have anything to do with it as we offer a very wide variety of domain types.
If you can provide a link to the site you are talking about, we can investigate further.

If the person who’s role you are wanting to change is the original site owner, then you would not be able to change their role. The owner of that site is atonkovic.

Hi, yes. I spoke with the prior site owner. She said that she transferred the site ownership to another person on the account and no longer has access to it on her end. However, none of the other admins that would have received that ownership have the ability to remove her profile from the backend or change her from admin to a different role and then remove her.
I work a lot with wordpress.org sites and typically if the ownership is transferred then the profile can be changed from admin to another status and removed. Does it now work this way on WordPress.com?
The organization for this site would like to have the profile of this admin removed. Will that be possible?

Hi there,
On self-hosted WordPress sites, there’s not a single “owner” like there is on a WordPress.com site. Since all WordPress.com sites must be owned by a single account we don’t allow the role on that account to be changed from “Administrator” even by other Admins.
I took a deep dive and think I see what’s going on here. The upgrades on the account were transferred away from the current owner, atonkovic about a month ago. This allows someone else to renew and pay for the account’s upgrades. However, the site owner was not changed. The upgrade owner and site owner are separate in our system.
To be able to remove or change atonkovic’s role they will need to transfer ownership of the WordPress.com site to another user by following this guide:
