Have you consulted the theme set up instructions at https://wordpress.com/theme/espied?
Scroll down to Widgets there please.
Espied offers a widget area that appears in the fly-out side panel along with menu and social links menu.
You can remove any widget by activating the customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ and going to the widgets section of it to remove the widget https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#removing-widgets

Yes i have done all that timethief, but if you look at a specific project page (https://elenapirinchievadesign.wordpress.com/portfolio/maison-sivo-maitre-distillateurs/) you can see on the side bar there are two arrows and a cluster of small squares which is an archive button, i want that gone. No more little squares.

Oh! Now I see exactly what you mean. Thanks for that link. Let’s ask Staff to assist you with sorting this out. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

Hi Elena,
To remove the archives button you’ll need to use some CSS code. Custom CSS is a feature of the Premium and Business plans and you need to upgrade to one of those if you want that button removed.
