Remove Blogroll on new Theme

    Folks,

    I have not used wordpress in 4 years. It has changed quite a bit. I just downloaded a new theme called “Cordobo Green Park 2”. I am trying to remove the BLogroll and other widgets. These do not appear in any of the menu bars to the right in the widget editing screen. In other words, I can’t drag them off and into the inactive section. I have googled this answer quite a bit and see varying answers on hacking the sidebar.php and dragging widgets on and off to “reset” the sidebar. Nothing has worked. I don’t know php well enough to hack (I tried, but hosed the sidebar.php file).

    I believe I have done my due diligence on this and am simply stuck. Any help will be appreciated, I may give up here and just use another theme.

    We always need a link to your blog, starting with http, in order to answer technical questions. Answers depend on the blog.

    Hello –

    I am having the same problem on http://buildawhale.wordpress.com/

    Same as for gweechie – “Blogroll” does not appear on the Widget editing screen, but it is there on my actual blog pages. The theme is Mistylook (I don’t have this problem on my other blogs).

    Thanks!

    @jwindh
    That is the default sidebar that is always added to all blogs before you drag and drop your own widgets. As soon as you add your own widgets, those will display.

    Thanks – but I have added the Pages and Archives widget to the site, and the Blogroll one is still there. Ohhhh… I just figured it out! It appears on the Widgets page as “Links” – I dragged “Links” back out of the sidebar and now “Blogroll” is gone. Hopefully this helps gweechie.
