Remove categories from multiple posts at once?

How do you remove a category from multiple posts at once, i.e. in bulk?
How anyone could set up WordPress.com with a way to add categories in bulk but not remove them is more than I can understand. I’d like to know what made that person think users will only want to add categories in bulk and never remove them.

That is wrong. I’m guessing you’re confused between deleting an entire category and removing it from some specific chosen posts.

I’ve been answering support questions here since there was a single FAQs thread, no support docs and only one support Staff on Staff. So I don’t what you mean by “That is wrong”.

Maybe you need to post a screenshot of what you see and also post exactly what your computing environment details are.
You can post screenshots and share them with Staff. You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots. Or you can use the WordPress.com guide I linked to and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.
Please let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
