Remove comment field from portfolio item view in Orvis theme?

I would like to be able to remove the comment field from a portfolio item detail view in the Orvis theme.
I have a portfolio project in my site. I have been able to disable comments for posts, and the portfolio page. However, when I click on an item in the portfolio, and it opens up the detail view, there is a comments field, along with with the caption and description. I haven’t been able to find a way to remove that comments field.
Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you! The thread you provided addresses my exact question. Unfortunately, I don’t see the “Comments” checkbox for each media item that was the solution they found. Perhaps it’s a limitation of the Free plan I’m using?
Here’s what I’m doing:
1) Go to wp-admin->Media->Library. The Media Library page appears, and all my media shows up as expected.
2) Click the List View icon. Media now correctly appears in list mode
3) Hover over a media item, and click “Edit”. Edit Media screen appears allowing me to edit the title, permalink, image, caption, alternative text, and description. At the bottom, checkboxes are provided for “Show Likes” and “Show Sharing Buttons” Unfortunately, I do not see a “Comments” checkbox. :-/ -

You will have to turn off comments for every image in the portfolio, go to Wp Admin → Media → Library and click on the image you’d like to update. Then click on Edit More Details on the right, now click the “Screen Options” tab at the top right and make sure the “Discussion” option is checked, then find the Discussion box on the same page below the image, uncheck the options for “Allow comments” and “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page,” and save changes. That will remove the comment box from that image in your portfolio. You will have to do this for every image already uploaded.

Perfect… Enabling “Discussions” in “Screen Options” was what I was missing. Thanks very much! :-)
