remove comments

I don’t want people to make comments on my site. I unchecked “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in the Discussion Settings and the comment box is still on my site.
Also, I tried to uncheck “Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article” and it wouldn’t uncheck. Also, I was unable to delete the text from Content in subsection at the bottom. “Leave a reply” is the default text that shows up at the bottom of my page along with the comment box that I want gone.
Are others having problems with this. How can I remove the comments section from my page?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts as in evidenced own your own blog. You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/Any existing posts or pages will need to have comments disabled manually via editing. You can use the bulk edit feature in the all posts and all pages screen to make that quicker.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

The Enable/Disable Comments that is a section header for the Discussion metabox is not available to me when I choose discussion from the settings tab, because of this I can not turn off the Allow comments option. Are there different admin versions? Is the article you sent me to current? Any other ideas?

P.S. I’ll have Staff take a look at your blog. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thanks so much. I believe it is accurate but there may be a problem with the settings for the admin settings perhaps the template I chose is an older version, does that happen?
Thank you for having Staff take a look at my blog, how do I subscribe to the thread?
Also, I have the pages set to private will this effect the Staff’s ability to look at the blog.

Your comments are already turned off under Settings > Discussion.
However, you may have done this after creating your pages, so you can turn off comments on existing pages in your Quick Edit window. In your Dashboard, go to “All Pages”. When you are viewing a list of your pages, click “Quick Edit” and it will bring up a window like this:

Uncheck “Allow Comments” and hit the blue Update button.
If you do that for each post, the comment box will disappear.
