Remove comments from blog entirely

  I am trying to remove comments altogether from my blog.
  I have gone to settings > discussion and unticked every box but nothing appears to have had any effect- the ‘leave a comment’ and comments field is still showing as well as the following html – You may use these HTML tags and attributes: <abbr title=””> <acronym title=””> <b>

  <cite> <del datetime=""> <i> <q cite=""> <strike>
Does anyone know how I can remove these entirely?

  I should also say that my blog is actually annoushka-jewellery.com/blog
  and not annoushkajewellery.wordpress.com
