remove content box on home page

  Hi – I’m using the Motif theme for my blog and was wondering if the white content box on the home page can be removed? I tried not putting in any text, but the box still shows up as a blank white box.

  My blog site is http://www.linhdu.ca.

  I played with this a bit just to make sure, but I’m afraid you are right–there is no option built into the theme that let’s remove the white content box.

  You could remove it with the advanced customization/ CSS options available as part of the Premium Plan upgrade. Here’s more info about that plan:

  If you decide to upgrade, please let me know and I’ll give you the code you need to remove the content box.

  Thanks @lizthefair for looking into this for me. I’ll try and find another theme that allows me to feature an image on the home page without having a content box over the image.

  You might try Edin
  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/edin/

  It defaults to having writing over the top of your featured image, but there is no box so leaving the page blank should work much better.

  Thanks for the suggestion! I have changed to the Edin theme and have spent the day customizing it to my needs.

  For some reason the menu won’t appear on anywhere on the site. I had created a custom menu with my last theme, and Edin supports custom menus (in 3 locations), but I can’t get it to appear. I want it in the header navigation area. As a tempt solution, I added the menu widget in the Front Page Three area. But once you click to the other pages, you have no menu to navigate out. Please help!!

  Glad to hear Edin is working out for you :)

  Edin does default to a hidden menu, but you can switch it to a “classic” view under theme options in your customizer.

  I’m seeing the menu at the top of your page now so I’m guessing you found this option on your own.
