remove date stamp and author name from posts

Hi, I’m creating a website using the Andrea theme:
    laurataylornd.wordpress.com
I plan to use it as a website rather than a blog so to remove comments I used Pages » QuickEdit and unchecked “Allow comments.” But my date tag and author name are still appearing on the pages I’ve created. How do I remove these?

Also, is it possible to delete the “Archives” and “Categories” feature from the sidebar?

    Thanks in advance, everyone.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. The date on pages is a feature of the Andrea theme…

You may be able to remove it using a Custom Design upgrade and some CSS knowledge, but it would just be easier to switch to another theme.

“Archives” and “Categories” are probably the default widgets that come with the Andrea theme. Follow these instructions to remove them or replace them.

Thanks, airodyssey! I successfully eliminated the sidebar. Now, can you tell me how to center my content? The alignment looks strange now that I’ve gotten rid of the sidebar.
    Would appreciate your thoughts.

    @reneelareau
The themes porocides these layout options > Appearance > Theme Options
    Andrea Theme Options
    Choose a layout option:
    Layout Options
__Flexible-width Layout — Wide, flexible-width layout. Site width is fluid between a minimum width of 900px and maximum width of 1280px. Images in the main column have a maximum width of 1000px.

Fixed-width Layout — Narrow, fixed-width layout. Site width is 700px and the main column width is 500px. Images in the main column have a maximum width of 500px.

Thanks — I found those options and chose the fixed-with, but am not able to center the text field as I would like, within the fixed-width option. Any suggestions on how to do this?

edit: “porocides'”was meant to be “provides”

If you think you can edit the theme or template underlying it then this is not the case.

Please clarify whether or not you have purchased the annually renewable custom design upgrade. If you have then this thread will need to be moved to the CSS editing Forum.

Thanks — I was hoping to avoid purchasing the custom design upgrade. Oh well. Appreciate the help.

You cannot make the change you are indicating without it. If you read the information at the links I posted I believe you will be clear on what you can and can do with or without the custom design upgrade. All free hosted blogs here at WordPress.com are on a multiuser blogging platform and every blog wearing the same theme is using the same underlying template. We cannot access those file let alone edit them. Only Staff can access those files and every edit they make changes all blogs wearing the same theme.
