remove dates and author in Big Brother theme

I would like to remove the date and author from posts on dunantista.org, theme Big Brother. I would like to keep categories and tags. I have visited “https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/hide-date” but when I paste .byline{display:none;} .icon-time, .posted-on {display:none;} or other examples into the HTML editor they do not function, and also they show up on the blog below the date etc which still show. Am I doing something stupid?

I am sorry about this – I mistakenly thought that the remove date was available without the paid upgrade. This is not clear in the forums. Will it ever be available in the free version? €99 seems a lot just to remove the date.

@sodiumglutamate, since you have been here since before the Custom Design was rolled into the Premium package, you can still buy Custom Design separately from Store > Store in your dashboard. Here is a direct link: https://dunantista.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php .
