Remove domain from wordpress.com blog
-
Hello,
I would like to remove ambermaroo.com from my wordpress site abandonedmyblog.wordpress.com, so I can then delete abandonedmyblog.wordpress.com. I have removed the nameserver details from where the domain is registered. My ultimate intention is to put ambermaroo.com onto another of my wordpress sites.
I know this seems a bit convoluted, but it’s the only way I can think of to remove an email follower (I know they have other ways of viewing my blog etc, but I just want to stop my blog posts from appearing in their email account).
Please could somebody help me with this?
Thank you..
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. Removing domain mapping won’t unsubscribe your followers, as they’ll still get emails from the WordPress.com address.
If a subscriber no longer want to receive emails they have to unsubscribe themselves. Simplest is to click the unsubscribe link that appears at the bottom of every email notification.
See here for how a WordPress.com user can cancel their email notificaitons: https://en.support.wordpress.com/following/#manage-email-and-im-settings-for-specific-blogs
See here for how an email-only follower can cancel email notifications: https://en.support.wordpress.com/following/#how-to-unfollow-a-blog-if-youre-not-a-wordpress-com-user
If you meant you don’t want them to get email notifications anymore, there’s no way to prevent that. As long as your blog is set to public anyone can follow it in any method they want. You can’t prevent someone from following and you can’t prevent email notifications from going out to any user. And as I already said above, whether or not you have a custom domain mapped to your blog makes no difference whatsoever to this.

Hi kokkieh,
Thank you for clarifying about the followers situation! :-)
Do you know how I can remove the domain mapping within WordPress.com, or is this something that only staff can do?
Thanks,
Charlotte -
Staff need to remove the mapping. I’ve tagged this for them to follow up.
They can also move the mapping to a different WordPress.com blog, if that’s what you’d rather do. Just let us know, and then please be patient while waiting for their reply.

Thank you for tagging staff for me.
I’d like to move the mapping from abandonedmyblog.wordpress.com to ambermaroo.wordpress.com.

I’ve removed the Domain Mapping Upgrade, as requested.
Would you like me to transfer this site’s Custom Design Upgrade to another of your WordPress.com sites?
If so, please confirm with the address of the new site and I will be happy to assist you.
If you want to permanently delete your site, follow the guide below:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/
Please read the warnings and advice before deleting a site, as we can’t revert a site deletion for any reason.
If you want to hide your site instead, you can use the following guide to make your site private so only you and other members of the site can view it when logged in:

Hi pmciano,
Thanks for that! It would be great for the custom design upgrade to be transferred too; my new blog is ambermaroo.wordpress.com
