Remove domain map
-
Hi!
I need to remove the domain dahnjun.no completely from my site, so the url to access it is the wordpress URL. Can’t figure out how to do this, thanks!

STAFF EDITALERT TO EVERYONE READING THIS THREAD:
——————-You do not have to remove Domain Mapping to use your domain with a new webhost. You just need to log into your domain registrar and modify the DNS to point to your new webhost. This will completely bypass WordPress.com and all traffic to your domain will be pointed to your new website.
HOWEVER, do keep in mind that it can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency.
You can, of course, cancel your Domain Mapping upgrade if you like. If you have moved to a hosted WordPress.org site, there is no reason to keep paying for WordPress.com upgrades. You can cancel upgrades here:

I have removed domain mapping from your account. You should be able to access your site at dahnjun.wordpress.com now.

Thanks! I have set up wordpress.org on the domain dahnjun.no but I just get a wordpress.com error message when trying to install it.. any tips?

Hello again. We need the domain dahnjun.no to work, so can you map it again to the wordpress.com site as soon as possible? I need to do it at another time when the site doesn’t need to be accessed , thanks!

Have you logged into your domain registrar and set your nameservers to point to your new webhost? If you have left the nameservers pointing to WordPress.com, you will see an error message.

I have set Domain Mapping back up.

Thanks! The domain is moved to another registrar so there is no nameservers pointing to wordpress.com as I see.. is that the only way?
-
There would have to be nameservers (or perhaps a CNAME or A-Record) pointing to WordPress.com or Domain Mapping would be unable to work.
-
Your domain registrar’s support team should be able to help you point the domain to the correct place.

Hi There, I am trying to connect my domain to my new Wix site and have changed the name server settings with the hosting service but it is not connecting my new site to the domain yet, do I need to disconnect it from WordPress first …? Or change any WordPress settings? … I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.

Hi, the domain mapping for lizarenyard.com currently points at cbtoxfordshire.com. Would you remove this please so that it can be used as a separate site? Thanks.
-
What is the URL of the WordPress.com site you would like it to point to instead? lizarenyardcbte.wordpress.com? Or something else?

I’ve made that switch for you. Let me know if everything is working correctly.

Hi, I have a domain that I have taken from a W.P. dot org and moved it to .com using domain mapping. I wish to retain all of my content but no longer want it to be public. How is the best way to achieve this?
