Remove Domain Mapped

    Trying to use my domain i owned to create a new WordPress site and it keeps saying this domain is already mapped to a WordPress site. I have deleted previous sites and still can not locate what site this domain is mapped to.. Please help soonest.

    is this a private thread? domain is [redacted]… I need it released from whatever account/site it’s tied to so I can use it for the new site

    Thanks. I’ve redacted the domain from your reply above, as this forum is public, and it doesn’t sound like you want the domain visible here.

    I see you used to have that domain registered with us, but you cancelled it two days ago, on 26 May. Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all.

    If you still want to use this domain, the only way to do that is if we restored it to your account. Then we can help you connect it to a different WordPress.com site in your account, transfer it to another WordPress.com user, or point/transfer it to a completely different hosting provider.

    Please confirm if you want us to restore the domain for you.

    Yes please do whatever it takes to restore the domain so I can connect it to another account/site.

    I currently have this WordPress account that I am using to message you. I do not have a site created in it because when I want to create a site it’s asking me for a domain name and it’s also making me sign up again when I already have a one year hosting paid for.

    So yes I want yo connect the domain to a website I will create in this account.

    And thank you for redacting the domain from this public forum.

    Thanks for confirming.

    Because you’d also deleted the site the domain was connected to I’ll need someone from our domains team to restore the domain. I’ve requested that and will let you know as soon as the domain is restored.

    Meanwhile, please go ahead and create your new site, selecting only the free WordPress.com address for now – as the domain already exists you won’t be able to select it directly during signup.

    Once the domain is restored to your account, you can then move the domain over to the new site.

    Okay, the domain is now back in your account, and you’ll see it at https://wordpress.com/stats/day/emchuku.com

    As you haven’t created a new site yet, you can do it directly from that page using the Create Site button.

    Hi.. thank you for the assistance.. However I tried creating a site and its asking I sign up for a plan.. Why is it doing that? I already have an account I paid for one year subscription.. this was Feb 2022 and was previous named emview834634858.wordpress.com.. So did I lose that amount paid without any credit issued? Please I would like a credit issued so I can use it for this new site.
