Remove Domain Mapping

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I recently moved from wordpress.com to wordpress.org with go daddy.
My domain name (www.sojuwave.com) was originally registered with godaddy and I had it mapped to the wordpress.com site with the same name.

I recently removed this because I’ve switched to .org version.
However, i sometimes get that whenever I edit the site in Godaddy, sometimes it will direct me to wordpress.com’s wp-admin. I have a feeling the map is still attempting to connect or some sort..

DNS changes do need some time to propagate. How long ago did you make the switch?

Your domain sojuwave.com is pointing to GoDaddy Nameservers, and a GoDaddy A record IP. You should be good to go once those changes you made finish propagating (which shouldn’t take more than a few hours normally, but can technically take up to 48 hours)

Hmm.. Well I made a few changes since I would sometimes see it display correctly, then it would revert. Most recent changes were about an hour ago.

Probably did it one too many times then.

I’ll wait and see if the problem persists.
Thanks for confirming that all is set up correctly.

Just for more information, this is what I’m seeing occasionally every 15 minutes.

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

    The old site is sojuwave.wordpress.com
The new one should be with godaddy on sojuwave.com

that means that sometimes your domain is pointing to the OLD IP (your wordpress.com account) instead of your NEW IP (GoDaddy’s hosting IP)

Just give it a couple days. If you’re still having issues, GoDaddy may need to refresh your zonefile.

Your name servers are now pointed as follows:
    NS23.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS24.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

It can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading correctly then please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

It is not unusual for the last place to flush their DNS caches to be your own ISP. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during this stage is to be patient.
