Remove domain mapping

My site http://www.ashleyhearn.com was taken offline with this error message:

‘Your blog’s domain aehearn.com stopped functioning on Friday, December 4, 2015 and visitors who come to the web address aehearn.com cannot find your site any more. Please note the primary domain ashleyhearn.com was also deactivated until aehearn.com is either renewed or canceled.’

I used to own the domain aehearn.com but I canceled it months ago. I still own ashleyhearn.com and would like to remove domain mapping for aehearn.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While logged into the account, on the notice that says “Uh oh! Your blog’s domain aehearn.com expired”, click the “Cancel this domain” link. If the expiration notice still appears after doing that, close your browser completely, restart it and visit the page that had the notice/banner.

Another option: Log into the WordPress.com account that you used to buy the upgrade. From your Dashboard go to Store > My Upgrades. Next to the domain, click the cog icon, then click the cancel link. Here’s more info about cancelling upgrades: https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

If neither of those work, add “modlook” to the tags for this forum thread to let WordPress.com staff know that you need assistance with this issue.

The problem is, I’m not seeing a “cancel this domain” option.

When I go to my “Manage purchases page” there is a red message that says “expired a month ago.” When I click on that, they plan information is grayed out and there’s another red box that says “This purchase has expired and is no longer in use,” with an option to renew. But I don’t want to renew. I no longer owned the mapped domain.

I hate to be a bother, but I really, really need to get this figured out ASAP. I have potential employers looking at my website portfolio and no one can access it. Thank you!

  • @aehearn I’ve fixed this for you. Cheers!
