remove domain mapping – do not retain domain URL

  • Unknown's avatar

I am aware of the domain cancellation policy and wish to have domain mapping to thistimethisspace.com removed from my blog at onekoolblog.wordpress.com.

    Status: Active, Manual Renewal
This upgrade will expire in 8 months on April 30, 2016

I have made the blog private.

I have also disabled auto-renewal of this upgrade.

I do not wish to use the domain on any other site.

I do not wish to wait until the expiry date to have it removed.

This request is being made because I cannot locate the “cancel” button referred to in this support doc. https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades I can locate only “Cancellation Info” which I have read.

Please also note that I have an additional No-Ads upgrade on the same site purchased under my other username account “timethief”. After posting this thread I will log in under that account to confirm the cancellation of that upgrade.

    Status: Active
This upgrade will be renewed automatically in 7 months on April 6, 2016

I also wish to have that upgrade removed from onekoolblog.wordpress.com now as I do not wish to wait until the expiry date to have it removed.

    @Staff
I have tagged this thread with “modlook” and request that you please remove the domain mapping for me.

Thanks, in advance, for doing so.

P.S. Thanks to all other Volunteers for not responding to this thread. :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    @Staff
I have logged in and posted here to confirm my desire to have you remove bothe the domain mapping upgrade and the No-Ads upgrade from onekoolblog.wordpress.com.

I have made the site private. I do not wish to transfer the upgrades to another site, and I do not wish to wait until the expiry date to have them removed.

Thanks, in advance, for doing this for me.

P.S. Yes, I will also be doing the same with my other site as it’s time for me to move on. :)

Here we go again, but with the other site.

    Domain: onecoolsitebloggingtips.com
    Underlying URL onecoolsite.wordpress.com
    Domain Registered with WordPress.com

    Domain Status: Active, Manual Renewal
This upgrade will expire in 3 months on December 20, 2015

    No-Ads Status: Expiring
This upgrade will expire in 3 months on November 29, 2015

I have made the blog private.

I have also disabled auto-renewal of these upgrades.

I do not wish to use the domain on any other site.

I do not wish to transfer the domain or No-Ads upgrades so another site.

I do not wish to wait until the expiry date to have them removed.

This request is being made because I cannot locate the “cancel” button referred to in this support doc. https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades I can locate only “Cancellation Info” which I have read.

Thanks, in advance, for your assistance. :)

  • My 1st day back in the forums full-time and this is the thread I am greeted with ;(

    I sadly honored your requests:

The custom domains onecoolsitebloggingtips.com and thistimethisspace.com have been canceled under your account.

The no ad upgrades for onecoolsite.wordpress.com and onekoolblog.wordpress.com have been removed from your account.

Of course, let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks, TT!

    Hi Darnell,

Please take joy in my departure because it’s part of a much larger plan for my life. I have been humbled to find that my old instrument i.e. my voice is still able to produce pleasing sound. More to the point is that I’m full of joy when I sing and I intend to leave this life while singing an Alleluia chorus, not while answering support forum questions. :)

Thanks for your service and all my best to you always.

P.S. Will you also remove this warning from both blogs please?

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

  • Unknown's avatar

The warning is preventing me form accessing my Admin pages and I need to be able to do that.

  • Hey TT,

I still see both domains mapping to us (here and here)

Are you receiving those errors when trying to access the admin page through the WP.com address (and not through using the custom domain/wp-admin)? I had no problem accessing your dashboard that way.

You probably know better than I do that it may take up to 72 hours for those changes to propagate and for the warning error to disappear. If you don’t see any changes in that time, let me know and I will definitely look into it for you.

If there is anyway I can expedite getting rid of that error, I’ll find out and let you know.

    Thanks!

Today I tried accessing http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/wp-admin and I got the warning.

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

Then I logged in at https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ and did not get a warning – yay!

The domain helper now says: No Domain Mapping Found

There is no domain mapping upgrade for onecoolsitebloggingtips.com – yay!

Now I’ll log out and try the other blog which is set to private, unlike one cool site, which is public.

  • Yay! =)

Let me know if you have any issues with your other site.

Okay and now I am logged in okay to my other blog set to private using https://onekoolblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

The domain helper now says: No Domain Mapping Found

There is no domain mapping upgrade for thistimethisspace.com.

What is weird IMHO is that I get a warning at all on either site as the auto-renew is disabled on both and the domain mapping has been removed from both.

You’re quite right. It can take up to 72 hours for the domain change to propagate. By then I hope the warning is not appearing when visitors try to access http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com as it’s public. Hopefully, I won’t be posting into this thread again.

  • Hopefully, I won’t be posting into this thread again.

No worries if you need to. You know we’re here to help!
