remove edit button

The edit button is showing up on my published post….how do I remove it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The edit link you see provides us with the ability to edit our posts and pages by clicking it where it appears on posts and pages. You can’t remove it, but as only you can see it, and you can only see it when you are logged in, this is not an issue.

Thank you, didn’t realize that I was the only one that can see it.

Not to worry as many bloggers don’t realize that either. Best wishes with your blog. :)

I don’t want the edit button to show up on my posts. I know others can use this button because my husband has his own wordpress account and published a blog to facebook. When it appeared on my facebook page, I was able to click on the edit button and could make changes to his post. How do I keep the edit button from showing up on my posts?

You can’t remove it. If both you and your husband are Administrators of each other’s blogs then of course you can use the Admin “edit” button when you are logged into WordPress.com. However, if you are logged out you will not be able to use it. If this is not the case when you are logged out then please report this to Staff.

Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

@lisaglawrence, the only way that you would see the edit button is if you are also an editor or administrator on your husband’s blog, and the only way he could see it on your site would be if he were an editor or administrator on your site. The public will never see it.

The edit button is showing up on my posts on my friends’ facebook pages. I don’t want my friends to be able to edit my posts. How do I post to facebook book without the edit button showing up?

  • Unknown's avatar

Did you physically check your friend’s computer to see if the Edit button shows up? Or are you assuming that the Edit button appears because you can see it on your computer?

I saw the edit button on my husband’s facebook page, which has a different username and login than my facebook page. I am not an administrator on his page.

We’re not talking about being an administrator on your Facebook page, but on your blog. From timethief’s response above:

Are you an administrator on your husband’s blog?

I think being an Editor on another blog should have the Edit button also.

Ok, airodyssey and auxclass, I don’t think you’ve read all of my posts. Here is my problem. I created a post and had it published to facebook. On the facebook page, (NOT the wordpress page), my husband could see an edit button. It was active. My husband and I do not share the same facebook account. He has a different user name and password not associated with my wordpress account or my facebook account. I do not want the edit button to show up on facebook posts. How do I ensure that when a post goes from my wordpress page to anyone else’s email or facebook page that the edit button does not go with the post.

  • Are you sure that the edit button applies to your blog post and not something Facebook?

The edit button is not part of the post data and therefore not something that we send to Facebook.
