Remove Email Follow Blog

    I just had someone tell me a ‘follow blog’ email was received with spam ads all over it. This person was hopping mad and, frankly, so I am I. — If I delete the FOLLOW BY EMAIL WIDGET, will that disable the sign-ups? If not, how do I disable those sign-ups? I cannot have my followers subjected to this kind of thing.

    Hi there,

    We don’t include any advertising in blog subscription emails we send out, so that email does not sound like it came from us. If someone subscribes to your site we also don’t share that email address with anyone else.

    What is the FROM address and subject line of the email, and do you have any of the actual text that was included in the email?

    There is no way to disable email subscriptions on a WordPress.com site. Removing the widget from your site will make it harder for people to sign up, but logged out visitors will still be able to subscribe to email notifications on your site via the WordPress.com action bar, and logged-in visitors can enable email notifications directly from the Reader. It’s how WordPress.com works.
