remove email from old wordpress instance

Hello. I received an email (in Russian) that someone subscribed to this old blog: https://jaape.wordpress.com/ — I believe this was a blog I set up for a friend but it was never used. I can’t log in because my email is attached to a different blog now (but for some reason I get the emails still). So I can’t login to delete it or to at the very least, remove my email from it. I was wondering if someone on the WordPress side can detach my email from it so I no longer get weird emails in Russian?

Hi there,
At what email address did you receive the email? Type the email address on its own line, and it will be hidden from public view but I will be able to see it. Then I can check what’s going on and advise you on the best solution.

Okay, this email address is connected to the account you’re using to post here, but I also see the subscription notification email was sent to this email address. So it’s possible the email address for the other account is an alias of the email address you provided above.
Can you please try resetting the password using the username for that account, jaape? Make sure you log out of this account before attempting the password reset.

I had already tried that. No password reset email gets sent. Just tried again — same thing. Can we just remove the account/blog alltogether? As you can see, it’s not in use and hasn’t been for many years.

If you’re not getting password reset emails, and the one email is not an alias of the other, I don’t see why you would have received that email at all.
We cannot remove that site unless you can verify you own that account via the account recovery form, but I’ll email you with another option.
