Remove Facebook icon from my site

  I want to connect with readers via WordPress, LinkedIn and Twitter, not Facebook. I have disconnected Facebook but the icon is still showing on my site below the tags. How do I remove this? I have gone to Customize > Connect, and Facebook is not there after I have disconnected, but the icon on my site is still there.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi thisearthhorse,

  I have disconnected Facebook but the icon is still showing on my site below the tags.

  From the Dashboard: Navigate to Appearance -> Widgets. Locate the Social Media Icons Widget, and remove the URL for Facebook.

  Let me know if that helps.

  Thanks rwaynick, but the Social Media Icons Widget wasn’t activated and doesn’t have the usernames listed in it for the various social media either. I moved it to Inactive Widgets just in case, but it hasn’t changed anything. Is there somewhere else that has the social media options there?

  Try using the debugger http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
  but first make sure that you clear your browser cache so you aren’t viewing an old copy https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

  Sorry, I thought it was a Widget.

  I have gone to Customize > Connect, and Facebook is not there after I have disconnected, but the icon on my site is still there.

  It sounds like you are in the right place according to the theme page. What happens if you turn off the other social media services in the ‘Connect’ panel?

  Thanks rwaynick, if I turn off the other social media services, they disappear, but the Facebook icon remains.

  Hi there,

  Can you try reconnecting to Facebook in your sharing settings, then going to Customize > Connect to remove it from there, and then disconnecting from Facebook again? Let me know how that goes. :)

  I’ll also report this issue to our team so they can investigate why disconnecting doesn’t remove the service from the Connect menu. Thanks for letting us know about this issue!
