remove featured header image from slideshow?
-
I’m trying to use a custom header image on a page that also has a slideshow embedded in it. Here’s the specific page: http://essenceofthedesert.wordpress.com/photos/ My problem is that when I add the image I want to use as a “featured image” so it displays as the page header, it becomes associated with the page — and shows up automatically in the slideshow. Is there any way to work around this so that I can put a custom header on the page without having that same image show up in the slideshow? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Found my own answer, after some roundabout investigation:

You can use the gallery shortcode to exclude specific images from a gallery.
According to the help page on slideshows, however, you can’t exclude specific images from slideshows — they will display all images attached to the page. So, since I don’t want the header image to show up in the slideshow, I guess I don’t use the custom header for this page….
Is there any way to use a custom header image without attaching it to a page? (And without buying the CSS upgrade?)

The WP slideshow displays all the images “attached” to the post (that is, uploaded to your blog via the Add an Image tool of that post). But the featured image doesn’t have to be attached to the post. So, don’t upload the featured image via the Add an Image tool of the post in question: upload it via Media > Add New, then go to the post editor and set it as a featured image (now selecting it from the Media Library instead of uploading it from your computer).

I was wondering the same thing but I want to add the custom slideshow header to the homepage, not a different page. How do I do that without having the CSS upgrade?
Im using Twenty Eleven theme.
