Remove featured image from posts but keep on homepage

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

    I have just upgraded to WP.com Premium and trying to get my head around CSS and also beginning to realise there is a big difference between WP.com and WP.org when it comes to looking up answers (child themes and separate documents don’t apply to me, right?)!

    Anyway, that’s to give you an idea of just how green/clueless I am… My question is:

    Can I remove featured images from my posts/pages but keep them on the homepage? I am using the Canard theme.

    If you send me CSS code, do I just drop that directly into the CSS box in the customizer? Or do I need to change anything so that it’s specific to my site?

    Also, if anyone has a good clear link to help get me started with this new world of CSS and WP I’d really appreciate it.

    Thanks a lot,
    George

    Hey George,

    It’s nice to see that you’re willing to start a new journey of learning about CSS. The snippet that should help you hide the featured image from posts but keep them on the homepage is this:

    .single .entry-hero .post-thumbnail {
    display: none;
    }

    Just add it to your website as explained here https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/ (or, as you said, just drop in the CSS box in the Customizer).

    As I can see, the image is made to push down some elements like the post title, for example. First, just give a try to this CSS snippet and tell me if this is what you were looking for.

    Regards,
    Radu
