Remove featured image from single post

  Hi All,

  I’m really struggling with something here. I’m using the Baskerville theme on my blog neilneilneilneil.wordpress.com and have spent some time customising the posts.

  I am happy with the way the home page looks with the text preview of each post and a featured image, however, i do not want the featured image to also appear on the individual post page. I have read a number of posts about this and have since upgraded to a free trial of the premium version of wordpress to allow me to customise the CSS on my page.

  I have followed as best i can a number of supposed solutions to this by pasting in different CSS codes into the box and saving but none of these seem to have any affect on my site or provide a resolution. Can somebody please confirm if it is possible to remove the featured image from within the individual post page and if so how do i do this?

  Hi Neil,

  If you want to remove a particular featured image from a specific post, this is the CSS I would suggest.

  .post-570 div.featured-media {
      display: none;
  }

  How do I find my post ID? If you head over to the Post Screen to edit the 48 Hours In Paris post, you will see a URL in your location bar that looks like this:

  https://neilneilneilneil.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=570&action=edit

  If you want to have more posts without the featured image, repeat this process and replace the ### with the number of your post ID.

  .post-### div.featured-media {
      display: none;
  }

  That should do it, but if you have more questions about this topic, please let me know.

  Thanks for the swift response daschultemn,

  When i enter this CSS code it also removes the featured image from my home page and the post preview. i want the featured image to remain on the home page but not appear on the actual post page itself.

  Am i doing something wrong? Or perhaps it’s a different code?

  Try removing the div from the CSS I provided.

  thanks, just tried this and it doesn’t change anything, the image seems to either appear on both the home page and the post page or not appear on either.

  This is what happens when you’re hustling to a kid activity and then try to follow up at a stop light. Not recommended.

  .single-post .post-570 div.featured-media {
      display: none;
  }

  No computer now, so if this doesn’t work you’ll have to wait until I get home or another forum member chimes in.
