Remove free blog to connect self-hosted blog through JetPack.
-
I started a blog soaringcrowes.wordpress.com, but never used it. I now have a functional, self-hosted wordpress blog: annacrowe.com and installed Jetpack. When I attempted to link the annacrowe.com to wordpress, it just logged in to soaringcrowes.wordpress.com since my email address is connected to the latter.
I would like to use my email address to annacrowe.com — NOT soaringcrowes.wordpress.org anymore.

There’s nothing wrong with having both blogs attached to your account, even if you don’t use the wp.com one anymore. If you want to change where your name links when you leave comments and such, edit your profile here:

No, it’s not about where my name links, it’s about using JetPack on my self-hosted site. JetPack allows you to use all the wordpress.com functionality, but it needs to connect to a wordpress.com account.
When I attempted to link JetPack, it took me to the soaringcrowes.blogspot.com blog interface. I do not want that connected to my new self-hosted site.

I figured it out. I did change my username, per Matt’s suggestion above. I also hid my old, unused wordpress.com blog.
Then, after installing JetPack in my self-hosted site, I followed through with linking to my current wordpress.com account and it automatically listed it there.
