Remove from search engine – why does it appear, in the first place?

For the attention of staff and not a member : modlook, Z Vally
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/search-engine-forum-question-removal

I would like this be removed from search engine please, and requesting this second time. Google wont remove it as you have to do so.

As it is, we are not getting any replies/help here and it is a waste of time coming here. It is quite confusing to follow as images appear where we have not requested it to appear, and continuous problems.

Why should our info appear in search engine??! You should be protecting us from this. In the end people will leave. Cheers, UK

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Why shouldn’t your info appear in Google? You posted it publicly. Welcome to the internet; this is the way it works.

Actually you are not correct – you were given the correct answer in that thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/search-engine-forum-question-removal

Also keep in mind that somw search engines and various archive sites don’t seem to ever forget

  • Unknown's avatar

Raincoaster, don’t you have anything else important to do??? Nothing productive or constructive from you. Just leave my thread!!! I would like to hear from a staff, not someone who has nothing constructive or useful to say. You have never been able to resolve anything so far. I am entitled to privacy. It is posted publicly but it does not mean it should come up on search engine. Facebook do not! In fact, I will end up deleting this blog site, if it is not resolved.

  • Unknown's avatar

I am entitled to privacy. It is posted publicly but it does not mean it should come up on search engine.

Until you understand what is wrong with those two sentences you will never, ever get resolution.

You may throw insults and exclamation points at me if you like, but it does not change the fact that, by posting here again and linking to the original post you have BOOSTED its rankings in search engines.

It will also not change the fact that search engines are completely independent of WP.com and WP.com staffers have no control over them. It’s up to you to ask each search engine: Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and all the rest, to remove the thread because you find it inconvenient. You now also need to ask them to remove this thread which you have created, bringing up the old issues. Great work, there.

And the “Google Juice” this forum has is incredible – any Post here is almost instantly indexed by the major search engines

  • Unknown's avatar

I found a solution and this is what I should have received than retaliatory childish replies! Total nonsense replies here!!! No constructive replies!!! It seems you lot are bored and so come to this site to keep busy. At this time of the day??? Retired lot???

Classic dashboard > settings > reading > remove from Google search engine.

I wonder why no-one thought of this???? I WONDER??? Just giving rambling replies which provides zero solution!! Total nonsense!!!!

Addition: You do not seem very knowledgeable and you should not be attempting to respond to threads. Leave that for staff.

  • Unknown's avatar

CLASSIC DASHBOARD > SETTINGS > READING > REMOVE FROM GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE.

    Get Knowledge!

  • Unknown's avatar

You ask about being removed search engines for the forum that is the answer we gave you –

that setting only discourages search engines – IT DOES NOT REMOVE ANYTHING FROM SEARCH ENGINES – read the settings again – you are not correct –

CLASSIC DASHBOARD > SETTINGS > READING

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m quite knowledgeable, in fact. I’ve been here longer than most of the staff.

There is one positive thing that has emerged through all the ad hominem abuse and ignorance: the heartening proof that someone whose English is so rudimentary will not find it a barrier to being an author.

That is nice. That’s really quite nice. We’ve come so far together.

  • Unknown's avatar

You got this correct, ten out ten! Well done.

“Discourage from search engine” > very close to saying it will be removed.

Being the longest reigning staff do not mean you have all the knowledge, as information keeps on changing and at times the new, younger ones will know more. Remember this as I am older too.

Have a great day! Read my book. It is knowledgeable and it is funny too. = ( : )) http://www.zvally.wordpress.com

I bet it’s a laugh riot, if your sense of humour here is any indication. And your sense of grammar.

For those who also do not want to see their info in search engine:

Left hand side > W logo My Sites > Classic dashboard > Settings > Reading > Site Visibility > Discourage search engines from indexing this site.

  • Unknown's avatar

It’s not retroactive, in case you didn’t get that part.

  • Unknown's avatar

Best to ignore this person now! Just senseless arguments! Fighting a losing battle! No solution provided.

Further info – I also went to a “removal request form” to remove my search engine content and stated where they ask, “Why you want it removed?” – Tell them WordPress cannot remove the content.

    @zvallyauthor-

    Hi there,

The solution that you found is exactly what I would have recommended! You mentioned this:

Why should our info appear in search engine??! You should be protecting us from this. In the end people will leave.

I find that many users create public blogs so that they can be found in search engines as you can reach more readers this way. However, if you don’t want this, you please keep your Reading Settings as is. If you want to make sure you cannot be seen by other readers, you can set your site to private in the same setting. We do take privacy very seriously so if you have any other questions about this, please let me know!

    @auxclass and @raincoaster-

Please try to keep your comments positive.

    Thank you!

sorry @gracejiyoung – I gave accurate answers and did not dump on the OP – however the OP was quite rude to me for answering their original question which you might look back and see that the original question was not the question they really wanted answered

  • Unknown's avatar

Why shouldn’t your info appear in Google? You posted it publicly. Welcome to the internet; this is the way it works. From Raincoaster.

Sorry to say, that in fact, I found this comment to be rude and provocative, so Raincoaster received a “good telling off” from an older person. Raincoaster started me off. I had to defend myself. By the way, I still have teeth to talk and a mind to think :-))

Why at this point Raincoaster did not mention about the classic dashboard > settings > reading ??? Instead he was being silly. He/she lacks knowledge of this site. Just passing time by giving irrelevant and provocative replies. This person has come up with nothing useful, but keep on playing a scratched CD which keeps on repeating, “she was rude, she was rude…..” But what about you, Raincoaster?

Go and read this and pass time with it. You will enjoy it too null
    Cheers. Bye.
