A wordpress.com account and gravatar account are one in the same thing. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click. http://en.gravatar.com/support/profile-privacy

I’ve had my WordPress account for 4 or 5 years. Having WordPress as well as Gravatar with its separate user and password is confusing. You said that Gravatar and WordPress are the same thing but I added Gravatar and should not have because it looks like a second WordPress Account. So I have the free version of Gravatar that points to my original website but I only want what I used to have, where I just log into my Dashboard to update my site. I don’t need or want the second Gravatar account and I don’t want it pointing to my website, for which I already use my original WordPress account. I just want to get rid of the Gravatar account which is redundant…..or, at a minimum, deactivate the Gravatar duplicate. Please explain in simple language, I’m not a website developer or an expert in WordPress. Thank you.

Will you please post the relevant usernames here so they are available when Staff work their way forward to this thread to assist you?

Yes, thank you.
My original WordPress account User Name is my email address: (email visible only to moderators and staff) I do have a username but the site was hacked a while back and now I’m not sure what that was/is.
The Gravatar username: rexparty6 -

Hi there,
Having WordPress as well as Gravatar with its separate user and password is confusing.
Your WordPress.com account and your Gravatar account are exactly the same thing. There aren’t separate usernames and passwords for them.
The Gravatar username: rexparty6
That is also your WordPress.com username, proven by the fact that it appears next to your profile picture for every comment you’ve made in this thread, and the fact that you’ll see it in your WordPress.com account settings:
https://wordpress.com/me/account/
I think you’re confusing the WordPress.com platform with the WordPress software you used to build your site.
Your site, synergylink.net, is not on WordPress.com, and we have no control over its dashboard. The username and password you use to log into that site was set up when you created that site and is stored in the database on the server where the site is hosted. That username and password has nothing to do whatsoever with your WordPress.com/Gravatar account.
Your WordPress.com/Gravatar username, rexparty6 is what you use to log in here, on WordPress.com, not to your site’s dashboard. This account was only created two weeks ago. Your self-hosted site is connected to this account via the Jetpack plugin, which allows you to manage that site via our interface. A WordPress.com/Gravatar account is a requirement for using Jetpack.
There is no way to delete a WordPress.com account once created.
