You don’t need CSS editing to do this: you just create a blank menu in Appearance > Menus and set it as your primary menu.
Details on menus here: -
Thank you justpi. I was able to remove the Home link but don’t see how to get rid of the nav bar. Should I be able to do that with a menu also?
Thanks for your help.

You’re welcome. My suggestion removes the nav menu (where the Home link was), so what do you mean by “nav bar”?

There’s a search box (I thought it was called a navigation bar) below the blog title. It’s not a widgit (I removed all of those for now). I’d like to remove it but not sure how.
Thanks, appreciate your help.

To remove the search box, add this in the CSS editor:
#branding #searchform { display: none; } -
And no, the search box isn’t the nav bar. Check a different theme for an example:

The search box is a separate element in the header area. The nav bar/menu is the series of header links that start with “About”. On most themes the nav menu is horizontal, on Hum it’s vertical (below the blog title and the search box). -
