Remove items from static FP

  • Unknown's avatar

I need to go back to using a static FP and therefor I need to remove all the blogs below the featured image – Here

Instead of having my blogs on the FP I want them (only the tours) – here

I made this happen, but I cannot remove the posts from the FP, even though I re-categorized them from the FP to the new category “The Tours”..

I only want the “welcome” on the FP and then links from the welcome page to the Tours which are listed here.

I appreciate any help, thank you(:

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,
In essence you are asking: How do I set a static front page?

You have two choices on any blog
    (1) All posts on the front page.
    (2) A static front page and posts on a different page.

By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors who will not be happy to have to click through an About page every time they visit your blog as they come to read your most recently published content. Creating that situation can make some visitors annoyed – so annoyed that they stop following your blog.

However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for all published posts (not pages) to display on in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.

To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
    A static page (select below)
    Front page:
    Posts page:

    The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

    Thank you

Your suggestion is that I dont change it but keep the FP as it is?

My website is not going to “change” all the time once I am finished with it. My plan is to keep the whole website static – once all the tours is posted I am finished.
This is why I thought it was better to do what I suggested.

Maybe I am wrong – I appreciate your opinion on this.

My problem right now is that my FP isnt really a page that I created. it is just where everything went…hihi..
So I just need to make a new page which I choose as my static FP then, and then add a page where I try to send my posts.

I hope I understood you correctly

If you want a page based site then create ONLY Pages and do not create any Posts.

    A blog is a website.

A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.

What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

Ok, thank you so much for very informative post.

It sounds like I should just keep the site as it is then. I have worked a lot on getting my posts/website up on the searchengines lists and I dont want to ruin that.

    Thank you again(:
