Remove link from image
-
When I add an image to my site, I do not want it to include a link to the content. I only want to display the image, not allow people to open it in a separate window and/or download it. This was very easy to control until recently when you changed the posting interface, and now I can’t figure out how to remove the link from an image I’m adding. Please help!

You can use the classic editor just as you did before. The trick is finding it as Staff don’t want us to do that. They removed the link last March.
You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and for viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/
On the dashboard of your own blog at

Here are more details about the options for uploading images http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/04/26/images-the-three-link-options/ Note “None“: clicking on the inserted image has no effect.

Thanks! I ended up publishing my post and it didn’t seem to add a link to the images automatically. I was nervous since the new editor removed a lot of options. It looks like you’ve provided some helpful references, so thank you for that.

It sounds like you used the new editor. Note the feedback thread at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/editor-feedback?replies=749
