Remove links from post?

  • Unknown's avatar

I would like to feed my blog into my site. I would ideally like to do this without linking to my wordpress.com blog. Is it possible to remove links back to the site? The post title, photos, and comments all link back. Is there a way to have links just not work?

    a good example would be:
    http://thecorsonbuilding.com/journal/index.php

This feeds, but links to the wordpress.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First off, it is a really bad idea from an SEO standpoint to have duplicate content on the web. The search engines will throw both sites down a well and both will take substantial search engine ranking hit.

Why not just install wordpress on your site and then put the blog in a subdirectory or a subdomain off your TLD (top level domain)?

Any sort of “RSS” feed or anything like that into your main site is going to come with the links attached. It would probably be possible to remove or change links and such on the main site if you are good with CSS although it would also mean you need to know PHP scripting since you are going to have to write scripting to be able to get the feed onto your site in the first place.

That is what I am finding out. I am trying to install wordpress, but having trouble with the MySQL. Not sure where the site is hosted, someone else has given me access through an ftp server, but not the control panel. Waiting to hear back…

Any thoughts on how to get that info?

Here on this wordpress.COM dupport forum we provide help only for issues that pertain to the wordpress.COM blog end of things. We don’t provide any support beyond that. The correct support forum for wordpress.ORG installation isuess is here:
    Installation
    – Problems with getting it running. http://wordpress.org/support/forum/installation

Please note that wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG are completely separate and run on different software. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Well, I am still open to an answer to wordpress.COM if anyone has a good answer. I understand the difference.

You can use an iframe on your existing site to embed the blog there, but iframes are problematic and will not remove links. There really isn’t anyway to make the post title links go away. I suppose it could be done if you have the CSS upgrade and some CSS editing experience, but then it would render the blog itself a dead thing.

I would strongly suggest getting your own hosting account somewhere that way you are in charge of it and have full access to what you need, and then you can install wordpress on your site and have the blog as part of the site.

Many companies use WordPress to drive their entire site – depends on what you want to do with the site and how it looks and feels – if you can use WordPress (either .ORG or .COM) the changing and updating the site is much easier than a site that is all html based.

A WordPress based site also calls up the search engines when a new Post is made so the search engines are made aware of say your new Special for the week etc.
