Remove my logo from header of shared posts to facebook
-
Hi There,
When I share my posts to facebook, my logo appeared on the top of every post. I didn’t want that, so I removed my logo. But, it is still showing up. How do I remove it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s possible that you’re seeing a cached version of your post. Facebook holds on to cached content until its crawlers check for updates. You can try using the Sharing Debugger to manually clear the Facebook cache and see an updated version of your content:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
When I ran your site URL through the debugger, I did not see an image or a logo.
You can use the debugger to clear the cache of any post by running the link through.
Let me know if that helps!

Thanks Jessica. I will try this. A couple other things:
1) why can’t I find my blog when I google it?
2) I want to share my posts from word press to Facebook and have the post-specific photos accompany my shared posts to Facebook. For example, on my “I hate you” post, I added a photo on word press. But it doesn’t accompany the share to Facebook, is there some other format I need to use? I want my shared posts to Facebook to be visually appealing with variation in photos for each one. That is why I am frustrated that the logo I deleted keeps predominating my shared posts to Facebook.
Thanks,
Kim -

re: search engine discoverability
It can take weeks for search engines to index your site content. Please read this support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/ so you know we have no control over search engines positioning or appearance in the SERPs (search engine page results).
To verify blog ownership of a WordPress.com hosted blog with the major search engines you must use this process > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.WordPress.com automatically supplies sitemaps for our blogs to search engines – we do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines
Search engines aren’t attracted to sites that are page based. Sites that are post based where publication of posts, not pages is frequent are more attractive to them. To gain search engine attention, I recommend that you start publishing posts (not pages) https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ frequently. That’s because it can take weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL.

Are you using Publicize? https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/
Have you tried using the Facebook debugger? We have no control over the images that Twitter, Facebook or any other social networks chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.
Please read Images in Publicize http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#images-in-publicize

I have spent hours on this. It should not be this difficult. Is the issue that I have the free mrmbership? If I pay will the functionality be more reasonable?Sent from my iPhone

Hi momminbytheseatofmypants —
Are you stuck right now on SEO or the FaceBook share? Let me know and I’ll see how we might be able to help with what you’re working on at the moment.

I am stuck on the FB share. I realize you said you can’t control that. So I’m at a loss. Mine is not looking like others, such as scary mommy or faithful interiors. Seems like what I’m trying to accomplish is pretty standard and basic…wanting the “featured photo” connected with each post (which is appearing on wordpress) to also appear in the currently blank thumbnail photo spot in the Facebook share. The other quirky thing was that when I was trying to write a customized message for my share, my keystrokes werent being recorded in the box. They would appear and disappear. i would have to hold down each letter and then get multiple and then delete the extra copies. Not sustainable. I’m pretty tech savvy and this all just seems a little frustrating.

I checked your “My Story” post both on Facebook and on your blog, and I don’t see a featured image attached to it. Did you set one?
Are you using the automated Publicize feature to share your posts, or are you manually copy and pasting the link into Facebook?
-
I’m using the automated publicize feature. And it is in that feature I was experiencing difficulty with the key strokes not being recorded. The featured image problem is weird too. Right now when I look at Reader and my post is there with my featured image (a picture of my family’s feet in the sand with about me on it) but then the image doesnt come up with the actual blog post even though it did before.
-
Hmm…let’s investigate the featured image not showing up.
Can you check something for me? If you go to the Customizer (from the backend, click the Customize button next to Themes).
Under Content Options, there’s a section for Featured Images. Is the Display on… box checked for all three options?
-
Aw yes…I had unselected a few of those when I was trying to get rid of the unwanted logo I was originally inquiring about. I have rechecked them. The image seems to now be showing on WordPress…but still not in the Facebook share. I deleted the previous Facebook share and resent manually and it is still not there.

I just ran the link to your post through the debugger. Note that it shows you first how it will appear, and gives you the option to Scrape Again.
I scraped it, and it returned an error on your image. I did it a second time, and the preview shows your image along with the post link.
Here’s a screenshot showing what I’m seeing now: https://cloudup.com/cIzUdxqXTH5
Can you take another look at the debugger, being sure to click the Scrape Again button, and see if it works? Sometimes it just needs to connect a couple times to pull all the content.
-
Yes I’m excited to see this. Thanks so much! Encouraged, I reposted my “I hate you” post and shared to FB and again sadly the image is missing. I’ve scraped it several times. Still no luck. I just want to get to a place where I can post and share seamlessly. Again I ask is this because I have the free option. If I upgraded would I have better functionality?Sent from my iPhone

I just checked your Facebook page, and it looks like your posts are now showing up with featured images! Is that what you’re seeing too?
