Remove Nofollow

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

So after running a site audit I have 97 outgoing internal links that contain a nofollow attribute. How do I go about fixing this? And what are the best plugins for this issue in 2023? Thank you so much for your time and assistance! Cheers!

  • Hi! Typically managing “nofollow” tags assigned to pages is done via the Yoast SEO plugin that you have installed on your site. I searched the internet and found some information from Yoast about why the nofollow ugc tags exist, and how to manage them on your site using Yoast settings:
    https://yoast.com/help/how-do-i-noindex-urls/#nofollow

It doesn’t look like they provide a bulk method to manage the nofollow ugc tags however, and if you need to manually make updates to the links you’ve created on your site then you may wish to look into a search/replace plugin.

You can also use SSH on your site to use the WP-CLI function to run a search and replace too (more details about the search-replace function here) but if you’re not comfortable with that then a plugin might be a simpler option for you; however I don’t really have any specific recommendations as to which plugin to use as they’re made by third parties.
