Remove sidebar

How do you remove a sidebar?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please a single empty text widget at the top of the sidebar > Appearance > Widgets to get no sidebar display. However, that will not allow you to blog in the sidebar space. If that’s what You want then you will need to purchase an annually renewable upgrade and do the required CSS editing.
Here you go:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questionsAlternatively you can choose to switch to using one of the 127 themes that’s are single column themes ie. no sidebar. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/one-column/

Oh groan … I am sorry and apologize for not noticing this thread was already in the CSS Forum. Please be patient while waiting for CSS editing help.

Thanks! I did purchase the upgrade…..so perhaps I just need to study better to figure it all out.

Hi there, I see two nice images flanking your content at insightsforcommunities.com (which is a nice alternative to removing a sidebar). Did you still want to remove a sidebar? On the Digg theme, this is somewhat involved since the background white area behind the content and sidebars is made up of several images, and at least some of them will have to be redesigned so that it looks right.

I took a further look at this, and the following removes the left sidebar, widens the content area to recover that space, and makes the site look substantially like it did originally with the two sidebars. Add the following CSS and see what you think.
.pagewrapper { background: none #FFFFFF; } .obar { display: none; } .narrowcolumn, .content, .narrowcolumnwrapper { width: 692px; background: none; } .entry { width: 667px; } .narrowcolumnwrapper { border: medium none; } .content { border: 1px solid #CCCCCC; border-radius: 6px; }If you wish to keep the left sidebar and delete the right, change .obar to .sidebar.
Make sure and check all other page and posts to make sure that I haven’t missed something though.

Oh, one other thing you will want to do is to enter 667 into the “Content Width” field down below the CSS edit window so that full sized images and videos will use the new wider content area.
