  Hi,

  Adelle is a theme with a primary sidebar
  https://wordpress.com/themes/adelle/
  so you can’t remove it unless you have the Custom Design upgrade.

  You can go to Appearance > Widgets and add a Text Widget to your sidebar and just make it blank. This will make the sidebar smaller but leave a squiggly line and a gray box like this:

  You can also just choose a theme that does not have a sidebar.
