You can find step-by-step guides below that will help you remove a self-hosted WordPress site you have previously connected to your WordPress.com account thanks to the Jetpack plugin. https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/
That sounds very frustrating indeed, however, we don’t provide the support you need here at wordpress.COM.
Jetpack is a plugin used by WordPress.ORG bloggers to achieve parity with what we already have built into WordPress.COM blogs. A wordpress.COM account is required to run the Jetpack plugin, but we do not provide Jetpack support on these wordpress.COM support forums. Please direct Jetpack issues to where they can get Jetpack support.
re: Jetpack support
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-serviceWordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Thank you for replying. I already know all the things you mention about WordPress, .org and .com, and I have read https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/
The site in question, and a few more, does not exist any more, but is still listed as one of my sites on wordpress.com
The instructions on https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/ can’t be followed, because there is no such menu item visible.
The functionality to add Jetpack driven wordpress.org sites to wordpress.com “my sites” is made available and hosted by wordpress.com. I can see contacting Jetpack in this case seems reasonable, because, as you say, Jetpack is for wordpress.org sites and there is no wordpress.org site to interact with in this case..
There have to be some bug not letting me see the Settings item, since your help document shows it. Browser: Firefox.

Hi @knutsp,
If you aren’t seeing the site under My Sites, as outlined here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/#remove-old-sitecan you send a screenshot and a link to the page where you are seeing it?

Ah I see the issue. The site is owned by another user. You had a role on that site at some point, but you aren’t its owner, so you cannot disconnect the whole site. I’ll remove you from its list. Cheers!
