    I enabled the stats plugin for an externally hosted blog and I now want to detach it from wordpress.com account. I disabled the plugin and I cannot find any option to remove it from my account. Anyone know how to do this?

    You’d probably have better luck asking at WordPress.org, as we don’t do that here at WP.com and wouldn’t know how to advise you.

    Others have had the same problem
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=11138
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=12128
    And I don’t recall seeing see a solution to it posted to the forum.

    I believe we need staff to weigh in and give us an answer to this.

    Once you get them, please post the results in this thread. You are not alone. Aside from the others in the threads above I’m seeking the same information.

    Thanks for submitting a ticket. I don’t think there’s any point in me sending in another one asking for the same information so I’ll await your posting of the staff response you get to your ticket. :)

    Ok, I talked to Matt and this is pretty much what I got: Currently, there is no option to have your externally hosted blogs and/or their stats removed from your WordPress.com account. Matt did say “We will be creating ways to remove the information, yes. I just don’t have a date.” in response to my request for a time frame. Than he said “I’ll make sure the issue is pushed a bit.” So I guess we just wait for the news telling us that we can now do it.

    @sgtbenc
    Thanks for the update. Are you by chance also using the Akismet plugin? I have the Akismet plugin intstalled and activated but, I have not “activated” the wp stats plugin.

    Yes, I asked the same question and got the same answer. I had two external blogs on which the stats ran, and now not only are they gone, since I have moved here, but the company’s server that hosted them has disappeared too and I’ve still got the stats on my stats page. But I guess there’s nothing to be done!

    I did have Akismet on my blog before I stopped using the blog.

    Until I see staff have come up with a solution for this problem I will not activate the wordpress stats plugin on my hosted blogs.

    It is only an issue with the stats plugin. The only time it is a problem is if you want to quit using it on your wordpress.com account. My recommendation would be to use a “second” account to signup for the stats on external blogs so they stay off your main login if it really is an issue.

    same problem, can I get a ‘fix’? Whats the point of having wordpress if you are suggesting for us to get outside support stats, I love wordpress because everything can be accessed from within.

    Why can’t we just delete defunct blogs from our ‘switch’ list?

    How hard can it be? But we don’t have the files and code available to us, because that is run from the global dashboard – S_U_R_E we installed the plugin, but its run by the YOU/wordpress.com connecting and accessed thru the Global Dashboard.
